Hello, everyone! It was a pleasure to see so many of you at Back to School Night. As Mrs. Forte said, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. Here are the updates for this week.

6th Religion

This week is all about Abraham’s son, Isaac. We will learn about Isaac almost being sacrificed, and then about meeting his wife, Rebekah. The memory verse this week is Hebrews 1:1-2a.

6th Social Studies

The test on Topic 1: Origins of Civilization (The Stone Ages) is Wednesday, September 28th. The students have completed their study guide, and should be reviewing it a little each day. On Thursday, We will start our unit on the first civilization, Mesopotamia.

7th Religion

This week the students will be working on a project in class comparing the beliefs of other religions to Christianity. They will present Google slides projects to the class on Friday. The memory verse for this week is Psalm 119:105.

7th Social Studies

This week the students will finish and present their projects on a holiday they would like to see celebrated in the United States, as an alternative to Columbus Day. Then, they will work on reviewing for their Topic 1 Test, which has been moved to Tuesday, October 4th.

8th Religion

Much like sixth grade, the students will be studying the life of Abraham’s son, Isaac. We will learn about the similarities between the attempted sacrifice of Isaac and Jesus, as well as the relationships he had with his wife and sons. The students will also receive the outline for the first trimester project, the Tough Times Tool Kit, in which they will build a Bible-based strategy for dealing with difficulties in life. The memory verse this week is Galatians 3:26,29.

8th Social Studies

This week we will be wrapping up the Civil War and looking at the strategies that brought victory to the Union. Then, we will begin reviewing for their Topic 8 test, which will be on Tuesday, October 4th.
