Welcome back to a fresh new school year at Trinity! Here you will find my weekly updates on what we will be doing in Middle School social studies and religion. I will post test and quiz announcements and a brief summary of the topics and activities for the each class for the week.
6th Religion
This year in religion class, we will work through the Bible beginning with Genesis 1, Creation, and most likely, going up through Jesus’ 12 Disciples. This week we will focus on Creation and how God put great thought into His creation in order to sustain life.
6th Social Studies
Sixth grade social studies will focus on World History, mainly ancient cultures. Our very first unit will cover Pre-history, the time before written recordsĀ exist, and the different theories on how civilization developed. However, the very first lessons in social studies will be on how to set up their notebooks and how to use their notes for studying and homework. Then, we will do a brief lesson on BC and BCE versus AD and CE.
7th Religion
Religion this year will not go through the Bible chronologically, but will focus on topics. The very first unit will discuss who God is. Or first lesson will be about Elijah and how God showed His power and compassion through Elijah’s life and ministry.
7th Social Studies
This year we will be studying American history from the earliest ancient cultures, up through the time of hte Civil War. We will start this week with the oldest indigenous civilizations of North and South America.
8th Religion
In eighth grade we will once again study the Bible chronologically, starting with creation and the fall into sin.
8th Social Studies
In social studies, we will pick up right where we left off in seventh grade. We will study the election of Abraham Lincoln and the start of the Civil War, and then move through history up to the late 20th century.
