Welcome back for this week’s update! This is an especially exciting week as we have our Middle School trip to Nassau BOCES for outdoor education on Friday. Because of the trip, none of the classes have a memory quiz this week.
6th Religion
The sixth grade will take their test on Unit 1 on Tuesday. The test is on the Book of Genesis and Job. On Wednesday we will begin Unit 2, which will focus on Exodus, starting with God calling Moses to deliver His people.
6th Social Studies
The students will have their test on Topic 2, Mesopotamia and the civilizations of the Fertile Crescent, on Thursday, October 26th. We will begin reviewing on class on Monday.
7th Religion
This week we will continue our study of God’s Word by looking at the Ten Commandments (the Law) and the saving message of the Gospel.
7th Social Studies
In social studies this week we will begin looking at the Thirteen English Colonies, beginning with the New England colonies and the lessons to be learned from the Salem Witch Trials. Then, we will study our home territory, the Middle Colonies.
8th Religion
Eighth grade will complete Unit 1 on Monday when they learn about the 10 Plagues and the Passover. Then they will begin reviewing for their test on Tuesday, October 31st.
8th Social Studies
On Monday, the students will be presenting projects they’ve been working on in class about each of the conspirators involved with the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Then, they will take their test on Topic 9: Reconstruction on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we will start Topic 10, which will cover the rise of industry in the U.S. and the transformation of the West. We will start off learning about the positives and negatives of the mining and railroads industries.
