Welcome back to a new week! We are at the point in the year where we are finishing up the final units of study, having the last tests and projects, and we will soon be preparing for finals. Here are the updates for this week.
6th Religion
This week we will complete our last two lessons in the workbook. We will study the temptation of Jesus and then Jesus calling the first disciples. Next week, the students will do a mini research project on the lives of the 12 Disciples. There is no memory verse this week.
6th Social Studies
In social studies, the students will learn about the religion and culture of the Byzantine Empire, and then they will review for the test on Topic 8- The Roman and Byzantine Empires, which is on Friday, May 19th. Next week, we will do a brief study of life in Europe during the Middle Ages.
7th Religion
This week the students will finish unit 5, which has mostly focused on prayer. The test on Unit 5 will be on Tuesday, May 30th. There is no memory verse this week.
7th Social Studies
In social studies last week, we studied industrialization and immigration in the North. This week we will learn about life in the South before the Civil War, the beginning years of the women’s suffrage movement, and finally the art and literature of the 19th century. The test on Topic 7- Society and Culture Before the Civil War will be on Wednesday, May 24th.
8th Religion
In eighth grade religion this week, we will be completing the last few lessons for the year. We will learn about the temptation of Jesus, Jesus calling the 12 disciples, and Nicodemus visiting Jesus. Next week, the students will review for the test on Unit 5, which will be on Tuesday, May 30th. Then, we will begin reviewing for the final. There is no memory verse this week.
8th Social Studies
This week the students will review for their test on Topic 15- Postwar America. The test will be on Thursday, May 18th, Then, the students will work on their last research project of the year, which will cover pop culture throughout the latter half of the 20th century.
