Welcome back to a new week at Trinity! Here are the updates for each of my classes.

6th Religion

This week we are continuing to learn about Holy Communion. We will review the Ten Plagues and the Passover, and then how that is connected to the institution of the the Lord’s Supper. Then, we will get into what different Christian denominations believe about Holy Communion, and specifically what the Bible says about it in the New Testament. The test on this unit will likely be on Friday, March 15th. The students who are members of Trinity Lutheran Church will then make their First Communion on March 28th, at the 7:00pm service.

6th Social Studies

In social studies, we will study ancient Greek rivals, Athens and Sparta. We will especially focus on their forms of government and how differently the people lived in each place.

7th Religion

This week we will complete the lessons in unit 3. We will learn about the widow who gave all she had to God. Then we will work on the unit 3 review. The test will be on Tuesday, March 12th.

7th Social Studies

In social studies we will study how much the nation changed under President Jefferson’s administration, specifically the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clarke Expedition. To supplement the lessons, we will watch Lewis and Clark: The Great Journey West from National Geographic. Later in the week, we will begin learning about the War of 1812 and the Madison administration.

8th Religion

This is the final week of the exercise study, so religion class will resume next week.

8th Social Studies

While last week we studied the changes, culture, and fads of the 1920s, this week we will get into the economic issues that were looming on the horizon at the end of the decade. Then, we will study the Great Depression and President Roosevelt’s New Deal.
