Welcome back! Here are the updates for this week.

6th Religion

This week we will wrap up our study of the Old Testament, and we will begin studying the New Testament. This week will focus on Jesus’ birth and childhood. The memory verse this week is Nehemiah 8:10b.

6th Social Studies

This week we will begin our unit on Ancient Rome. Topic 7 will focus on the Roman Republic, especially its influence on the structure of the United States government. This is a short unit, so the test will be next Friday, April 11th.

7th Religion

In religion this week we will study what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and how we can follow Him in our everyday lives. The memory verse this week is John 15:5.

7th Social Studies

This week we will be study the Industrial Revolution in the North and the expansion of the cotton industry, and subsequently slavery, in the South. Then, we will look at some of the early abolitionists and members of the women’s movement who saw that society in the mid 1800s was at a breaking point. This unit is leading up to our study of the Civil War.

8th Religion

This week we will be studying the prophecies of Ezekiel and the life of Queen Esther. Through both of these topics, we see God’s glory and the perfect timing of His plans. The memory verse this week is Esther 4:14, which reminds us of God’s timing.

8th Social Studies

In social studies, we will continue with our study of World War II. We will study how the Homefront mobilized to support the war effort, focusing especially on the use of propaganda. Then, we will study how the United States helped lead the Allies to victory over the Axis powers.
