Welcome back! Here are the updates for this week.

6th Religion

In religion this week we will study King Hezekiah’s faithfulness and and King Josiah turning back to God. There is no memory quiz this week.

6th Social Studies

Last week we learned about the early cultures of Ancient Greece and then the development of democracy in Athens. This week we will switch gears and learn about Athens’ arch nemesis, Sparta. The students will compare and contrast the two cultures and explore how each has influenced our world today.

7th Religion

Last week we focused on the divine and human natures of Jesus. This week we will look at how Jesus is our priest, our king, and served as our substitute for our sins. We will focus on Jesus’ death and resurrection. There is no memory verse this week.

7th Social Studies

On Monday the students will present their projects on African American elected leaders. Then, we will begin Topic 6- The Age of Jackson and Westward Expansion. This chapter will lay the groundwork for the events leading to the Civil War.

8th Religion

Last week we learned about the split of Israel into two kingdoms, and then how Elijah was sent to prophesy to Israel and get them to turn back to God. This week we will learn about the consequences as we study the fall of Israel to the Assyrians, and then the actions of King Ahaz. There is no memory quiz this week.

8th Social Studies

On Monday the students will present their projects on African American military leaders. Then, we will start Topic 13- Prosperity and Depression (1919-1939). We will look at how the political balance shifted following World War I and how that led to many social changes.
