Hello, everyone! Time is truly flying by, and we are already starting Trimester 3! Here are the updates for this week.
6th Religion
This week we will begin Unit 4, which will focus on the good and bad kings of Israel and Judah. This week, we will study the ministry of Elisha, who was mentored by the prophet Elijah. Then, we will study the dramatic life of King Joash. There is no memory verse this week.
6th Social Studies
In social studies this week, we will study the Peloponnesian Wars, then we will get into the culture of Ancient Greece, and lastly we will close out the week learning about Alexander the Great.
7th Religion
In religion class, we will study the birth of Jesus, as well as how He fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament, and the prophecies He made. There is no memory verse this week.
7th Social Studies
The students will have their test on Topic 5 on Tuesday. Then they will research the main figures we will study in the next chapter, and based on their research, determine if each person should be considered a hero or villain of history.
8th Religion
This week will focus entirely on King David. We will study the characteristics that made him a successful, godly king. However, we will also learn about the story of his adultery with Bathsheba, and his subsequent repentance. There is no memory verse this week.
8th Social Studies
This week is one that many students have anticipated all year- we will begin studying World War II. We will start off by researching and assessing the leaders of the main countries involved in the war. Then, we will study the events that caused the war, and how the U.S. eventually joined the fighting two years after the war began.
