Welcome back to a new week. Here are the updates for my classes.

6th Religion

To start the week, we will study Jeremiah, known as the, “weeping prophet,” and what happened to him as he was preaching repentance to God’s people. Then, we will start a series of lessons from the book of Daniel, which will give us a perspective on what life was like for The Judeans during the Babylonian Captivity. The memory verse for this week is Isaiah 40:8.

6th Social Studies

In social studies, we will study a variety of events and people relating to Ancient Greece. We will learn about the Peloponnesian War, the culture of Ancient Greece, and then Alexander the Great.

7th Religion

Last week we learned about the events that took place around the time of Jesus’ crucifixion. This week we will study His resurrection and what the Bible says about His second coming. The memory verse this week is 2 Corinthians 5:17.

7th Social Studies

After spending most of last week learning about the presidency of Andrew Jackson, we are switching gears this week to look at the westward movement of the early and mid 1800s. We will learn about the various reasons why people traveled west, we will look at life in the Oregon Country and the Oregon Trail, the tumultuous history of Texas, and then the concept of Manifest Destiny.

8th Religion

This week we will study a mix of both goods and bad kings- Hezekiah, Manasseh, Josiah, and Ahaz. Then, we will specifically study the prophecies of Isaiah. The memory verse this week is Psalm 50:15.

8th Religion

Last week we studied the events and culture of the 1920s, and this week we will get into the economy of the 1920s, and how that led to the Great Depression. Then, we will study the Great Depression and Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal.
