Hello, everyone, and welcome back to a new week! Here are the updates for each of my classes.
6th Religion
This week we will focus on the the first two kings of Israel, Saul and David. The main theme of these lessons is that God counts what is in our hearts more than our outward appearance. The memory verse for this week is John 6:40.
6th Social Studies
This week we will continue our study of China. We will learn about the origins of Daoism and Confucianism, and then the unification of China. Later in the week we will do a research activity related to Martin Luther King, Jr.
7th Religion
In seventh grade religion we will be finishing up unit 2, and our study of Lutheran history. The test on unit 2 will be next Friday, January 20th. The memory verse for this week is Romans 1:16.
7th Social Studies
Last week, the students learned about the process of writing the Constitution, and this week we will study the ideas that influenced it. Then, we will study the two factions that formed and why the Bill of Rights was added. Later in the week, the students will begin a research activity based on Martin Luther King, Jr.’s, philosophy of nonviolent protests.
8th Religion
In religion this week we will finish learning about the life of Ruth, and then the call of Samuel. Later in the week the students will begin their Trimester 2 project, Calling All Workers. The students will work on this in class, and they will present on Friday, January 20th. The memory verse for this week is 1 Peter 2:9.
8th Social Studies
This week we will complete Topic 11 and learn about how the American culture was changing at the turn of the twentieth century. The students will have their test on Topic 11 on Friday, January 13th. They will receive their review on Tuesday, but they should be reviewing their notes and homework assignments a little each day.
