Happy National Lutheran Schools Week/Spirit Week! As a Lutheran school alum and teacher, I am so excited to be celebrating this week along with the almost 2,600 other Lutheran schools across the United States. Here are the updates for this week.

6th, 7th, and 8th Religion

Since this is a special week for Lutheran schools, we will be doing activities related to the theme of Lutheran Schools Week, which is Connected. The Bible passage that goes with the week is John 15:1-5, in which Jesus tells us that He is the vine and we are the branches. Each day we will do a lesson and activity that goes with the theme. None of the classes have memory quizzes this week.

6th Social Studies

In social studies, sixth grade will continue our study of Ancient China. We will learn about the philosophies that developed, the unification of China, and the rise of the Han Dynasty. Next week, we will study the cultural achievements of the Han, which will be the basis of their topic 5 research project.

7th Social Studies

On Tuesday, the students will present their Bill of Rights skits and cartoons that they have written. Then, we will get into a series of three lessons on civics and the structure of the government.

8th Social Studies

Over the last two weeks, we have studied how the U.S. became an imperial power and gained more and more international influence at the turn of the 20th century. This week we will see how all of these events and land acquisitions play into the U.S. joining World War I.
