I hope everyone has had an enjoyable winter break! Here are the updates for the week.
6th Religion
This week we will begin our unit on Holy Communion. We will begin with a review of Adam and Eve falling into sin and how God still cared for them and promised a Savior. Then, we will study the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, and how communion is linked to the Passover in the Old Testament. The memory verse for this week is Hebrews 1:1-2.
6th Social Studies
On Tuesday, the students will present their projects on African kings and queens. Then, on Wednesday, we will begin studying early Greek civilizations.
7th Religion
This week we will study all the wonderful things God does for us and how we should glorify Him in our lives. We will look at the stories of Zacchaeus, Jesus calming the storm for His disciples, and the story of how God extended the hours sunlight from the book of Joshua. The memory verse for this week is Psalm 103:12.
7th Social Studies
In social studies, we will be looking at how the U.S. developed a foreign policy under our first three presidents- Washington, Adams, and Jefferson. We will also learn about how our two party political system developed from early factions..
8th Religion
Due to the NYIT exercise study, religion class is on hiatus the next two weeks.
8th Social Studies
This week we will begin Topic 13, which will cover the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression. We will start off learning about the challenges the nation faced following World War I, and then we will learn about the social and cultural changes that occurred during the 1920s.
