Merry Christmas to one and all! We are just a few days away from celebrating the birth of Christ! In the meantime, here are the updates for this week.
6th Religion
Las week we began studying the book of I Samuel. We studied Samuel being called by God, and then how he anointed Saul as the first king of Israel. This week we will look at Saul’s sad downfall and then why DavidĀ was anointed the second king of Israel. There is no memory verse this week.
6th Social Studies
On Thursday, the students will take their test on Topic 4: Ancient India. We will review beginning on Monday. In January, we will study Ancient China.
7th Religion
On Friday, we began studying the Creation account of Genesis 1, and on Monday, we will study why God made His creation in the first place. Later in the week, we will learn about the angels and how God uses them in the Bible and in our own lives. There is no memory verse this week.
7th Social Studies
This week in social studies, we will study the ideas that influenced the U.S. Constitution, and then how we came to have a Bill of Rights. After Christmas, we will get into a series of lessons on basic civics and citizenship.
8th Religion
On Friday, we started learning about Gideon, and this week we will continue studying his leadership and the unusual ways that God help[ed him deliver the Israelites from the Midianites and Amalekites. There is no memory verse this week.
8th Social Studies
This week we will finish up learning about the Progressive Muckrakers, and then we will study the Progressive Presidents- T. Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson. We will finish the unit after Christmas.
