Greetings to one and all! Since this is our last full week before Easter Break, we have much to do. Here are the updates for this week.

6th Religion

This week we will be getting back to our work in our regular book. On Monday, we will learn about the prophet Jeremiah, and the message of hope he gave the people, and then we will spend the next few lessons learning about Daniel and the Babylonian captivity. To help refresh our memories, we might revisit a childhood favorite from Veggie Tales, Rack, Shack, and Benny, as a special treat on Friday.

6th Social Studies

This week we will learn about what life was like for different groups of people during the Roman Republic, and finally the fall of the Roman Republic, complete with the dramatic story of Julius Caesar’s death. “Et tu, Brutus?” Then, we will begin reviewing for the test on Topic 7, which will be on Tuesday, April 12th.

7th Social Studies

In seventh grade, we will be wrapping up the Era of Andrew Jackson with two lessons on the Indian Removal Act and the Trail of Tears. The students will read from both the American Indian perspective, as well as the U.S. Army soldiers. Then, we will review for a test on the first three lessons of Topic 6. The test will be on Tuesday, April 12th. We will resume the rest of Topic 6: Westward Expansion, after Easter.

8th Religion

This week we will continue learning about the kings of Israel and Judah, and how their devotion to God, or lack thereof, will affect their people. Then, we will study prophecies from the book of Isaiah.

8th Social Studies

In eighth grade, we will wrap up our study of the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression with learning about FDR and his New Deal, which has had many long term affects on our lives to this day. Then, we will take a look at what daily life was like during the Depression. The test on Topic 13 will be on Tuesday, April 12. We will begin reviewing this  week.
