While this is a short week of classes, we still have lots to do before we break for Easter. Here are the updates.
6th Religion
This week we will have two more lessons from the time period of the Babylonian Captivity. We will learn about Daniel interpreting the king’s dreams, and then we will learn about Queen Esther saving her people. There is no memory verse this week.
6th Social Studies
We will have one more lesson on the structure of the Roman republic, and then we will study what life was like for those who lived in Rome. After Easter, we will study the end of the republic and the start of the Roman Empire.
7th Religion
This week we will study more about Jesus’ ministry and we will also read about Jesus’ arrest, trial, and crucifixion. Appropriately, we will study the story of the Resurrection when we return from Easter break! The memory verse this week is John 1:14.
7th Social Studies
In social studies, we will study the Indian Removal Act, and subsequently the Trail of Tears. In addition to the regular notes and assignments from our curriculum, we will also look at two first hand accounts of the Trail of Tears, and then more primary source documents relating to the presidency of Andrew Jackson.
8th Religion
This week, we will study the story of Queen Esther saving her people. When we return from Easter break, we will study the return of the Israelites from captivity, and the students will also be assigned their Trimester 3 project: Design a Temple.
8th Social Studies
To begin the week, we will study the events of World War II that led up to the United States joining the war. Then, we will complete a map activity to illustrate the scope of the European theater of the war.
