Welcome back! Here are the updates for this week.

6th Religion

This week we will conclude our lessons on Daniel with the time he interpreted a mysterious message written on  King Belshazzar’s wall. Then, we will study how Queen Esther saved her people while they were held captive by the Persians. On Wednesday, the students will begin reviewing Unit 4. The test will be on Tuesday, April 30th. There is no memory verse this week.

6th Social Studies

On Monday, the students will present their Greek mythology research projects. They had the choice to make a poster or write a picture book about a character from Greek mythology. The students did a great job, and I am looking forward to their presentations. On Tuesday, we will begin studying the Roman Republic and Roman society.

7th Religion

This week we will begin Unit 5, which will focus on prayer. To start the unit, we will study Jacob from the Old Testament and how he ran away from God, but God still blessed him in a mighty way. Then we will get into two lessons on discipleship: what it means to follow Jesus, and how prayer is essential for us. The memory verse this week is John 15:5.

7th Social Studies

On Friday, we completed Topic 6- The Age of Jackson and Westward Expansion. We will review this week for the test on Thursday, April 25th. Then, the students will begin researching different inventions from the 19th century that completely changed American society, for better or worse- the railroad system, factories, the telegraph, and the cotton gin.

8th Religion

The students have been working diligently on their temple/church design projects. I extended the due date to Friday morning, when they will present. There is no memory verse this week.

8th Social Studies

The students will have their Topic 14 test on World War II on Tuesday, April 23rd. Then, we will go right into the start of the Cold War and the conflicts that arose in the decades following WWII, such as Korea and the early days of Vietnam.
