Hello, everyone. I hope all is well with each of you. Here are the updates for this week.

6th Religion

In Religion this week, we are continuing to study the period of the kings of the split kingdoms. We will be focusing on two good kings, Hezekiah and Josiah, before moving on to study Jonah. Each of these lessons emphasizes the importance of repenting of our sins. The memory Verse for this week is Matthew 11:28.

6th Social Studies

On Monday, we will finish our first chapter on Rome. We will look at the later years of the Roman Republic, and how that led to the Roman Empire. On Tuesday, the students will begin reviewing for the test on Chapter 10. The test will be on Friday, April 23rd.

7th Social Studies

This week, we will focus on what is called, “The Jeffersonian Era,” of American history. First, we will study the Louisiana Purchase, and the subsequent Lewis and Clark expedition. Next, the students will learn about the international threats Jefferson and Madison had to deal- The Barbary pirates, and ultimately the War of 1812.

8th Social Studies

Now that we have concluded our unit on the Roaring Twenties, our next topic of study is the Great Depression. We will look at the causes, attempted solutions, and how the lives of everyday Americans were affected by the biggest economic downfall in American history.

8th Religion

This week, the students will finish the last two lessons in Unit 4, which cover two prophets of the Old Testament- Isaiah and Jonah. The lesson on Isaiah will focus on the prophecies of Jesus, and Jonah will focus on the fact that God’s love and forgiveness is for all people, no matter what. Then, we will begin reviewing for the Unit 4 test, which will be on Tuesday, April 27th. The memory verse for this week is Romans 3:23-24.
