Greetings to one and all! As usual, we have a lot going on here at Trinity this week. Here are the class updates for this week:

8th Social Studies

First of all, I just want to share with all of you how pleased I am with how the the students performed on their Civil War test last week. Their essay responses were especially well written. This week we are moving on to the topic of Reconstruction. The students will first brainstorm their own ideas on how the nation should have been rebuilt before learning about the events that actually happened. It will be interesting to see how their ideas align with actual events.

7th Social Studies

Last Friday, the students engaged in a lively debate on whether or not Christopher Columbus deserves his own holiday. The students on each of the sides did an outstanding job defending their arguments, and I look forward to conducting more activities of this nature with 7th grade. This week we are moving to study the explorations of the Europeans who followed after Columbus and what made their missions and voyages so successful.

8th Pre-Algebra

The pre-algebra class is progressing nicely in their study of exponents and scientific notation. They will take the Module 2 quiz on Wednesday, October 7th. Extra help will be on Tuesday morning. The students will then work on reviewing the content from Modules

8th Religion

This week we will be studying the life of Isaac, the son of Abraham. The memory verse for this week is Philippians 4:6-7, which can be found on page 23 of the student book, or here.
