Greetings and Happy Lunar New Year! This week at Trinity is especially eventful because of the midterm exams in math and language arts.

8th Social Studies

This week in social studies, the class will be finishing the chapter on the beginning of American imperialism. They will start with writing articles in the style of 19th century yellow journalism. The students are choosing current new articles from the latest issue of Junior Scholastic, and re-writing them in the style of the article they studied that was written about the explosion of the USS Maine. They will finish the week learning about U.S involvement in Latin America, especially the construction of the Panama Canal. Instead of a regular chapter test, the students will complete a Document Based Question on the topic of American imperialism.

7th Social Studies

The seventh grade class will be finishing the American Revolution this week. Due to midterm testing, they too will have an alternative assignment to complete instead of a chapter test.

8th Pre-Algebra

This week, we will finish reviewing the concepts we have studied in Modules 1-7. They will take their midterm later this week, and extra help will be available Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

8th Religion/SEL

First of all, due to the snow day last Friday, the memory verse remains the same: 1 Peter 2:9, which is on page 63 of the student book. In class we will study the first two kings of Israel, Saul and David.
