Greetings, and welcome to a new week. Here are the updates for this week.

8th Social Studies

This week eighth grade is finishing up their study of the 1920s. They will present the biographical projects they have been working on in class. The students have researched a wide variety of figures from the 1920s and they will present their findings in class throughout the week. They will also complete an open notes test on Chapter 22 before beginning our study of the Great Depression.

7th Social Studies

This week the students will begin to study the events of George Washington’s presidential administration. They will learn how President Washington shaped the role of the president and how he set precedents for future presidents. We will primarily focus on economic policy, judiciary policies, and foreign policy.

8th Pre-Algebra

In pre-algebra, the students will finish Module 9, Transformational Geometry. They will learn how to represent the three types of transformations (translation, reflection, and rotation) using algebraic terms. In the last lesson of the module, they will combine transformations to form congruent figures. There will be a quiz on Module 9 next Tuesday, April 12th.

8th Religion/Social Emotional Learning

In both areas we are focusing on communication- between God and man, and between teacher and student. In religion, we are looking at how God used the prophets Elijah and Isaiah to communicate with the Kings of Israel and how God still speaks to his people through the Scriptures. In S.E.L., we are analyzing how best to make notes that accurately represent what the teacher is communicating and how to develop a system of taking notes that works for each individual. Also, we are reading up to page 46 in 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. The memory verse for this week is Romans 5:8, which is found on page 83 in the student book or here.
