Happy Pi Day! (3/14… 3.14….) While each day is a fresh start and a new beginning, this week marks a new beginning of topics for each class.

8th Social Studies

In eighth grade social studies, we are beginning one of my favorite chapters in all of eighth grade social studies: The Roaring Twenties. The 1920s were a transitional time in U.S. history, but they were also a time of rich cultural development. The music, literature, and art from this time period really brought the the U.S. into the modern age. We will start with looking at political changes, and then we will transition into topics such as the Harlem Renaissance and the Jazz Age.

7th Social Studies

In seventh grade, the students are studying the Constitution, the structure of the government, and the rights and responsibilities of being a U.S. citizen. As we are in an election year, this section is especially important.

8th Pre-Algebra

The students will conclude their study of systems of equation on Tuesday when they take their Module 8 “quest”. We will then change gears and begin to study geometry, focusing on transitional geometry. The students will learn to move and change the size of geometric shapes on a grid.

8th Religion/S.E.L.

In Religion, the students are studying the kings of Israel, which coincides well with beginning The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens in SEL. The students will learn about how making Godly choices and developing good habits can truly impact ones life. The memory verse for this week is Joshua 24:15, which can be found here, or on page 77 of the student book.
