Hello, everyone! We have a busy week ahead here at Trinity, and here’s the latest news for 8th grade.

8th Religion

This week we are continuing to work our way through the Book of Genesis. We are studying the lessons learned from the Tower of Babel, and then we will be studying God’s covenant with Abram/Abraham. Some of the important life lessons to take away from these lessons is that we are to use our talents and gifts to the Glory of God, and the next almost goes without saying: With God, all things are possible. The memory verse for this week is 2 Corinthians 10:17-18, which can be found here, or on page 13 of the student book. The quiz will on Friday.

8th Math

This week the students took their first quiz, which was a grand success! Congratulations to the Pre-Algebra class! We will continue with Lessons 1.2 and 1.3, in which the students will learn about categorizing and ordering numbers. There will a test on Module 1 next week. I will post the exact date later this week. This page from the Khan Academy covers all of the topics in Module 1, and will provide additional support outside of the classroom.

8th Social Studies

This week we are studying the impact of the Emancipation Proclamation, as well as the decisive battles of the Civil War, which turned the tide in favor of the Union. If you’d like to brush up on your Civil War trivia, this site is sure to help. The students will also work on in-class projects that relate to the vocabulary terms from the chapter. They will be on display for you to see at Back to School Night.

Back to School Night

I hope to see all of you this Thursday evening for Back to School Night. A letter outlining the evening was sent home, along with a copy of your child’s class schedule. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me via email.

Thank you and have a blessed Week!
