Greetings! I hope everyone had a wonderful Winter Recess. We have much to accomplish as we move into March this week. HEre are the plans for this week:

7th Social Studies

This week we will begin studying how the Founding Fathers put together a government from scratch. To go along with our study of documents and events, the students will also be researching the individuals who signed the U.S. Constitution. They will mixing old with new and will be writing blog posts and Tweets based on what one of the Founders might have thought during the process.

8th Social Studies

The eighth grade unfortunately had to split the chapter on World War I between the week before the break and this week. The students will be finishing the chapter this week and will begin preparing for the chapter 21 test. The test will be on Tuesday, March 7th. The study guide will be available on Thursday of this week.

8th Religion

To start this week, the students will present their 3rd quarter projects on Monday. From there, we will go into our study of hte book of 1 Kings. We will begin with the construction of Solomon’s temple and then we will learn about the saga of splitting the kingsdom between Jereboam and Rehoboam. While he was not a king, Elijah is also included in this study. The students will learn about how God miraculously provided for Elijah, despite punishing the nations of Israel for their idolatry. The memory verse for this week is Joshua 24:15, which can be found on page 77 of the student book.
