Hello Parents! I hope everyone enjoyed spring break. I’m excited to see the children back in school and hear all about their week off. Please remember to complete the daily attestations each morning prior to coming to school.
This week we review writing the alphabet and numbers 1-20, ten frames and our sight words. Please continue to practice sight words: a, green, and, red, away, blue, big, yellow, can, come. The sight words for this week are “I” and “for”.
We are starting a new theme this month, Nature All Around Us. This week’s topic is “How Do Plants Grow” with the big idea being that we can plant a seed and watch it grow. The vocabulary words we will learn this week are: flower, plant, roots, seeds, and tree. We will read the books “Growing Vegetable Soup” and “Counting in the Garden.” For math we will learn the words add and count.
In this week’s Scholastic Weekly Reader, titled “Go, Seeds, Go!” children will learn about how plants grow. After reading the weekly scholastic, we will plant our own seeds and watch them grow over the coming weeks. We will also start learning about the life cycle of butterflies. We have eggs and we will watch how they turn into caterpillars, chrysalis and then butterflies. When the butterflies are ready, we will release them into the world. During Jesus time, we will talk about Peter and the Crippled Man.
