Reading/Language Arts
We will enjoy reading Diary of a Spider, a humorous fictional story in our Journeys books
Spelling Words: doze, nose, use, rose, pole, close, cute, woke, mule, rode, role, tune, home, joke, wrote, ice cube
High Frequency/Sight Words: by, cheer, could, hello, hundred, mind, play, read, see, today
Our Phonics Focus: long vowel sounds o,u and e, hard/soft g
Our Grammar Goals: What is a noun?
Our week’s Vocabulary Strategy: context clues
We will have a Reading Comprehension test and a Spelling test on Friday!
Math
Chapter 2
Exploring 3-digit numbers, place value to 1,000, number names
Science
How do scientists know so much? What are you curious about? Looking more closely at the world around you and asking questions is the first step to becoming a scientist!
Handwriting
We will begin manuscript in our handwriting books
Religion
We will read daily devotions each day.
Our Bible stories covered this week will be God’s Promise to Abram and Isaac Blesses His Sons
On Wednesday we will “attend” chapel on Zoom from our classroom!
A few announcements…
***IMPORTANT:* Please accept all invitations to join our Second Grade and Specials’ Google Classrooms that have been sent to your child’s email address. Once accepted, parents’ emails will be added as well. Google Classroom will be used for remote learner resources, links to forms for after-school activities, shared class materials and announcements.
If you would like your son/daughter to buy pizza on Fridays, please return the green envelope by Thursday mornings each week, labeled with your child’s name and be sure to include the exact cash amount due.
