Reading Language Arts- Test Friday 1/13 Comprehension/Vocabulary
Story: Squirrel’s New Year’s Resolution by Pat Miller
Genre: Fiction
Vocabulary words include actions, bank, borders, creek, diner, garden, improve, order, resolution, scampered, stake, trampoline
Writing- What is your New Year’s resolution?
Grammar/Phonics– review of abbreviations, inflectional endings, as well as nouns, plural nouns, action verbs, shades of meaning derived from the story
We’ve made predictions and worked on story mapping. This week’s focus will be on retelling the story through writing, discussing character traits, and word work
Handwriting
We have officially begun learning the first basic strokes of cursive!

Place Value continued-expanding numbers
Social Studies / Science
Social Studies Lesson: Use Maps to Locate Places vocabulary- relative location, absolute location, town, legend, city, compass rose, symbol
Animal Biodiversity and Classification- We will explore animal classification/traits that define each group

Prayers added to our prayer book as well as handwritten prayers added to our classroom prayer box
