Reading Authentic Literature
• We will complete reading our novel study, Herbie Jones Sails Into Second Grade by Suzy Kline. While doing so, we will draw conclusions, predict, review adjectives, verbs, and nouns, learn about similes and onomatopoeia, discuss the prefix -un, cite evidence, discuss cause/effect, make inferences, find context clues, and talk about character traits
•We talk about what reading and listening look and sound like (reading finger following along, eyes in book or on teacher, ears listening)
Writing Personal Narratives- revise and edit!
• Writing the “big idea” and details in order to tell a story about your life (a summer memory)
Phonics
•Short a and i review
Handwriting “Keys to Legibility” including size, shape, spacing, and slant
