Handwriting/Manuscript

Completion of all manuscript letters/numbers! We are almost ready for cursive to begin!

We are taking the time to write our letters the correct size. Are they midline letters or headline letters? Be sure capital letters are taller than (most) lowercase letters.

Keys to legibility are size, shape, spacing and slant! Handwriting is important and strengthens our fine motor skills! Neatness counts!

Important Information and News:

*Please note:  A green note was recently sent home in your child’s Take Home Folder regarding the information below!

Shhhhhh! Someone is coming to Trinity soon to visit our classroom! On Dec. 17, our classroom will be visited by someone very special. (Ho, ho, ho!)  We are collecting a new gift wrapped book (cost: approx. $10 or less) from you for your second grader. Your child’s first and last name will need to be on the wrapped gift. The special jolly visitor will then give out the wrapped books on Dec. 17. You may drop off the wrapped book to school at the designated times or send it along to school in a plastic/paper bag as soon as possible. Please label it  “MAIN OFFICE” to ensure it is kept a secret!

A very big thank you to Mrs. Carpenter who shared with us this past week! We are so lucky to have Mystery Readers who share interesting stories and show us how much fun reading is!

•Are YOU interested in becoming a MYSTERY READER? If so, please email me so we can set up a date and time for you to “Zoom” in and share a book with our class! We hope everyone will take part in this fun activity and spend some time with us! Thank you to all of the new volunteers! We can’t wait to share a book with you!

Basil’s birthday will be celebrated on Monday and we will also celebrate Madison’s birthday on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Shannon have kindly offered to send in pizza for everyone’s lunch on Friday so you will not need to send in a pizza envelope this week. *Please note that we will still have snack Friday morning.

Our week will be sprinkled with Christmas fun! We will have a Christmas party on Friday. Our class mom has provided a fun craft!

• Please remember to send in extra masks for your son/daughter just in case a backup is needed!

• Layers of clothing are always a good choice so be sure your son/daughter has an extra uniform sweater to wear if we venture out when the weather gets chillier! Hats, gloves and mittens will be necessary too somedays; be sure to label all items with names please!

Some students need new crayons and pencils! Please have a conversation with your son/daughter if they need any other supplies as well.

If ever you have a question or concern, please email me at [email protected].

I would like to wish all of my second grade families a very Merry Christmas. May the true meaning of Christmas be in your hearts amidst the hustle and bustle of the days ahead.

Please stay safe and healthy and God bless our new year ahead!

Mrs. Antonia Ryan
