Welcome to Second Grade! I am so excited to begin our week!
Academics begin! We will continue to learn second grade routines, talk about class rules as well as sprinkle in some fun activities. Our week looks to be very busy! Here you will find a “forecast” of what is planned for our first full week of school!
Reading Language Arts
Writing: our focus will be on taking the first steps of our writing project, “A Slice of Summer” where we are the authors of a narrative that will tell about a favorite summer memory. Last week we began to brainstorm some ideas!
Reading: we will begin a novel study, Herbie Jones Sails into Second Grade
Phonics Focus: We will review initial, medial and final consonants in words
Math
Review Activities
Math is everywhere! We begin our Math journals in order to understand just how true this is!
Class Math Game “I have…who has?”
Social Studies / Science
Pledge of Allegiance/National Anthem- We will begin our Social Studies journals

Important Information and News:
•Homework begins this week. Please encourage as much independence as possible when completing homework. Homework is expected to be done neatly each night. The children will be writing their assignments in their planners. Kindly initial their planner each night. Take Home Folders will need to be emptied every night as well. Thank you!
•Hot lunch is available beginning Monday. Friday is Pizza Day. Please have pizza envelopes in no later than Thursday.
•Snack should be sent in daily.
•Please send in any remaining supplies as soon as possible.
