Veteran’s Day-  What is a veteran and why do we recognize these very special people every year in the United States?

Science

Exploring the changes happening right outside our classroom as it (finally) begins to look and feel like autumn. Why do the leaves change colors? Why do we change the clocks two times a year?  How are local Long Island animals affected by the changes of the season? Science is all around us.  Our autumn science sensory table will be a springboard for conversation and learning. As you walk outside, look around and see what you can find in nature. How many different varieties of leaves can you find? We will find out why acorns drop from the oak trees now. I encourage children to share their findings with the class, add to our science table and spark curiosity!

Religion

Bible Stories for the week include “The Golden Calf” and “The Snake on the Pole”

Beginning cursive strokes

Other important news:

First and foremost, I would like to thank our three class moms Kesha Nesbitt, Christie Brown and Gina Campbell for their time and efforts this past week in providing a fun and yummy pumpkin party! Masks were painted and treats were had by all. It was wonderful!

Spirit Week took place in our classroom and you could tell by the way second graders dressed each day- they were dressed for success and they looked great! Thank you for participating!
