I hope everyone enjoyed the vacation! We have a busy week ahead of us.
We are going to be working on opinion writing; writing persuasive letters. Our target skills are story structure and theme. Our target strategy is monitor and clarify. For phonics, we are focusing on words with -air, -ear, and -are. Our target vocabulary words are recycle, project, dripping, carton, complicated, pollution, rubbish, hardly, shade, and global. Our spelling words this week are air, wear, chair, stairs, bare, bear, hair, care, pear, pair, share, near, ear, and beard. Our vocabulary strategy is using context clues. And finally, in grammar we are studying adjectives and articles. We will have a comprehensive test on Friday.
In Math, we are beginning fractions. This maybe difficult for your child. If you notice that your child is having difficulties, please reach out to me.
We are almost finished with the animal research reports. The reports are finished and ready to be graded, and then everyone will have one last chance to make correction before we “publish” them in the hallway, classroom, and class book.
There is no religion test this week.
Next week, we are going to have a Math quiz on Monday and a Social Studies vocabulary test on Canada next Tuesday.
