The Advent season is upon us and we are so excited about Jesus’s birthday. Our classroom is nicely decorated, and our elf Snowflake Jangle or SJ has enjoyed being in our classroom and reporting back to Santa! We have been making Christmas crafts, an advent wreath, ornaments and we will continue to enjoy making more.
Language Arts- This week we will begin Unit 4 of our Wonder’s series. Our essential question is, What do people use to do their jobs? We will read, Whose Shoes? A Shoe for Every Job. We will learn a new sight word “you” and we will focus on the letter Ii and its long and short sound. We will continue blending sounds to make a word and begin to identify middle sounds in CVC words. In grammar, we will be learning about describing words- adjectives- and how we can describe things using colors words.
Language Arts Centers- This weeks centers will be identifying sounds in CVC words.
Math- This week we continue Module 6 – Put Together and Take Apart Within 5.
Math Centers- We will continue to practice addition and subtraction problems and numbers 6-10.
Jesus Time- We will continue to learn about the reason for the Christmas season and read the stories leading up to Jesus’s birth. Each week we continue to “light” a candle on our advent wreaths and watch videos to reinforce what we read.
Social Studies: We will discuss and watch videos on Christmas and the different ways people celebrate. We will also discuss different types of transportation we can use to travel to family for the holidays!
