Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s class notes!
Spelling– The new words for this week are: rat, bugs, owl, frog, logs, pond, come, many, kinds, find. The children will write their 10 spelling words 3x each for homework Monday night. They should write 10 sentences that will be due on Wednesday. Use at least 5 words in each sentence. Spelling Test will be on Friday.
Phonics– long and short vowels (test on Friday)
Language Arts– irregular verbs- contractions
Reading: We will read the short article, The Night Animals on Tuesday. It is a review week for the “R” book words (come, many, find, kinds). The children will read the article again at home on Tuesday night. The take home story this week is “The Mouse Trap”. There will be a Reading test on Friday. I will give a Unit test next Monday (4/7).
Math– adding 2 digit numbers
Science- weather tools; clouds
Social Studies- laws
Weekly Reader– Springtime in the Soil
Religion– Prophets tell of the Savior
1AA News
The 3rd quarter ends this week. Report cards will be mailed home next week. Can you believe it is already the 4th quarter of the school year? We still have lots to learn in first grade. Hopefully spring weather will arrive so we can get outside for recess!
If you would like to set up a conference time to discuss your child’s progress after you view his/her report card, please let me know.
Please remember to check your child’s homework every evening, making sure it is completed and done correctly, then sign or initial each page, (including the “S” book)! Encourage your child to complete all work in their neatest handwriting.
Book order forms will go home this week. You can order books online at Scholastic.com or send your order form and check to school.

Pizza envelopes should be handed in by Thursday at noon!
