Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!
Spelling- The spelling test for last week’s words will be given on Wednesday. There are no new words until after the winter recess. Beginning with book 4, there will be 10 spelling words for each lesson, so they will only have 10 words on the weekly tests the children still have to know the “R” book words for the vocabulary portion of the tests.
Phonics- long i words; digraphs
Reading: We read the story Animal Groups and we will have the tests on Wednesday. The children should read the story again at home on Tuesday night. We will not begin Book 4 and a new story until after the winter recess.
Math- Chapter 9- measurement
Science- Review chapter 4
Social Studies- test on Unit 3- Books were sent home last week.
Religion- Jesus and the Children

Happy Birthday Julia!
We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Friday. It is Red Day (a non-uniform day). Please remember to have your child bring in his/her Valentine cards for the class, as we will be having a card exchange.
Thursday is the First and Second Grade Bake Sale. Please send items in Thursday morning by 10:30.
Remind your child to complete his/her homework NEATLY, and please remember to check and sign their homework each night. Some children have been bringing back homework that is not done correctly.
Pizza envelopes should be handed in by Thursday
