Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s class notes!
Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!
Spelling- The new words for this week are: play, grain, sail, mail, may, rain, way, day, stay, pain, first, right, your, these. The children will write their 10 spelling words 3x each by Tuesday. They should write 6 sentences by Wednesday. The spelling test will be on Friday. We will be writing 8 sentences each week beginning with the next lesson!
Phonics- ai, ay words; contractions ‘ll and ‘d
Language Arts- names of months, days, holidays
Reading: We will read the story Where Does Food Come From? The children will read it again at home. The reading tests will be on Friday. The children should focus on what the pictures in the story are telling the reader. Both concepts in phonics will be tested (ai, ay words and contractions with ‘ll and ‘d).
Math- chapter 8 (addition strategies) test on Wednesday- practice test Tuesday
Review sheets will be sent home on Monday.
Science- life cycle of plants
Vocabulary words- seed coat, seedling
Social Studies- exploration: Columbus
Vocabulary word- settlers
