Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!
Spelling- The new words for this week are: time, like, kite, bike, white, drive. The vocabulary (“R” book) words are: bird, fly, those, both, long, walk, eyes, or. The children will write their spelling words 3x each for homework by Tuesday. They should write 6 sentences by Wednesday. Spelling Test will be next Tuesday.
Phonics- words with long i, kn-, wr-, gn-, -mb
Language Arts: We will read the story Animal Groups. The children will read it again at home. The Reading tests will be given next Tuesday. We will focus on suffixes -er and -est, and the verb “be”.
Math- Chapter 8 test on Friday- practice test on Thursday
I sent home practice sheets for the test if you want to review with your child. I also sent a hundred chart home so they can practice using it to count by tens from any number on the chart (good practice for the test!)
Science- life cycles
Social Studies- Presidents
Religion- stories about Ruth and Hannah

Happy Birthday, Julia!
We will be celebrating the 100th day of school this Friday! We’ll have a special visitor and special activities, including munching on 100 cookies with our kindergarten friends. Please send back your child’s traced/decorated feet by Thursday or Friday.
Next Friday (2/13) is a dress down day- wear red! We will have special Valentine’s Day snacks and exchange cards. Please have your child bring in cards for his/her classmates by then.
Continue to check with your child to see if he/she needs any supplies (especially pencils, erasers, and stick glue).
Pizza envelopes should be handed in by Thursday!
