Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!

Spelling- The new words for this week are: so, go, home, hole, no, rope, joke, bone, stove, poke. The spelling tests are about to change! Since there are now 10 spelling words and 8 “R” book words I will not be including all of the “R” book words on the spelling tests. The words included this week are: bring, show, before, and because. They will still need to be able to read the “R” book words fluently for the vocabulary portion of the reading tests. The children will write their 14 spelling words 3x each by Tuesday. They should write 6 sentences by Wednesday. The spelling test will be on Friday.

Phonics- long o and u

Language Arts- questions; suffixes; narrative writing

We are now in the 3rd quarter of the school year. We have finished the first half of first grade and we still have so much more to learn!

Please be sure to return the February menu if your child will be buying lunch at all next month. Miss Marcy needs an accurate count ahead of time so she can prepare enough food for all the grades, especially since we eat during the last lunch period each day.

All of the children have had a turn to be “Star of the Week” so we will now have a “Reader of the Week” each week. Details will be sent home when it is your child’s turn.

Book Orders are due Tuesday.
