Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!
Spelling– The new words for this week are: came, lake, made, name, shade, snake. The vocabulary (“R” book) words are: know, under, where, why. The children will write their spelling words 3x each for homework. They should write 6 sentences. Spelling Test will be on Friday.
Phonics– short vowel sounds
Language Arts– plural nouns; abbreviations
Reading: We will read the story Snakes on Tuesday. The children will read it again at home. The take home story this week is “The Snake Cake”. There will be a Reading test on Friday.
Math– continue with addition and subtraction
Science– Chapter 4- Life Cycles
Social Studies-Life long ago
Weekly Reader– Penguins

Happy Birthday Gabrielle!
Our Star of the Week is Gabriel!
I hope you all had a very blessed Christmas, and I am looking forward to 2014 and all that it will bring!
We are nearing the end of the 2nd quarter of school, and we will be challenging the students more as we prepare them to be successful in second grade! We have lots of work to do!
We will be celebrating the 100th day of school in the beginning of February. We have been counting down since the first day of school! More information about that celebration will be sent home soon.
