We have had a great start to the new school year! The class is working so well together. We welcome Savannah and Dhillon to our school! They have adjusted very well to their new surroundings. I will be posting our class news, as well as test dates and what we are doing academically each week on this page. Please view my notes each week.

We celebrated Nathaniel’s 6th birthday this week! Happy Birthday Nathaniel!

The children have an “R” notebook that they will be bringing home each week. The notebook will have the 4 Reading words stapled in it, as well as a chart to read that has words containing the sound we are practicing that week. Please make sure that your child reads the words to you each night, as they will be on our spelling test at the end of each week.

On the second day of each reading cycle (usually Tuesdays) we will read a new story in our reading series. The children should read it to someone at home that evening, and before each weekly test. There will be reading and spelling tests on Fridays. More information will be coming home this week.

On Monday’s, the children should write their spelling words 3 times each in their “S” book. In the beginning of the school year they only have to write the first 6 words on the list 3 times each. Later in the year they will be writing all ten words, and eventually sentences.

I am looking forward to speaking to the parents at Back to School Night on Wednesday, Sept. 18th. I will be talking about our classroom routines and schedule, as well as answering your questions.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Flomer
