This is the last full week of school! It is also the last week I will be giving reading and spelling tests. Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week:

SPELLING- This week’s words are: gnat, know, been, wrong, dawn, gnu, knife, write, cause, their. “S” books are due by Thursday. The test will be on Friday.

READING- The “R” book words are: been, children, month, question, their, year. We will focus on silent letter consonant digraphs: wr, kn, gn. We will also learn about similes using the words LIKE and AS; compound words; commas in dates and letters; special pronouns. The test will be on Friday.

MATH- I’m going to touch on the remaining chapters in math, teaching measurement, fractions (1/2 and 1/4) and time to the hour and half hour. I will not be giving any more math tests, but there will be homework this week.

SOCIAL STUDIES- cultures, customs, and traditions

SCHOLASTIC NEWS- Bees; Stars

RELIGION- We will finish the curriculum and discuss the Bible stories we have heard about how much God loves us.

We are looking forward to all our classmates having a chance to teach us something new this week! Your child already received the paper to fill out and which day they will teach this week.

I will be giving Benchmark tests in Reading and Math this week and next to see how the children have progressed this school year. There is no prep for the tests, it is cumulative on what I have taught this year. It is not counted as a report card grade.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) is Field Day! The children are excited and they all know what team color to wear. It is supposed to be a beautiful day!

There wil be an ice cream truck coming to school on Friday and all the children will get treated to ice cream after lunch!

Friday is the last FAST ATHLETICS.
