Here’s a look at whatwe will be doing this week:

SPELLING- The new words are: cart, arm, yarn, barn, art, harm, key, none, happy, four. The children should write their words 3x each and 5 sentences by Thursday. Test will be on Friday.

PHONICS- We will focus on words that end in a y, with a long e or long i sound, and words with ar, or, and er.

READING- We will read fantasy and non-fiction stories this week. The focus will be on proper nouns, changing y to i in words, using context clues, and using joining words (and, but, and or). The “R” book words are: four, large, none, only, put, round.

MATH- Chapter 11 is a very short chapter (comparing numbers) so we will have another math test next week on Tuesday: comparing numbers using signs.

SOCIAL STUDIES- Assessment of chapter 3- Symbols and Traditions of the United States

RELIGION- Stories about Zaccheus and Palm Sunday.

SCHOLASTIC NEWS- “Alma’s World” (artists)

Our class will be presenting the chapel service on Wednesday morning, so please make sure your child is here by 8:15 a.m.

Reminder: The children will be reading the reading comprehension portion of this week’s test on their own. They should be able to read the short story with no problem, but if they struggle reading it on thier own for the first time, I will drop their lowest reading test grade this trimester.
