Hello Parents,

Thank you to the parents who volunteered to bake with our class on Tuesday, December 3rd. Since we received more than 4 names, I will be selecting the names from a hat on Monday and letting you know if you were selected.

We will be having a lock down drill this week. I tell the children that we are practicing to keep them safe.

I have also changed the time of our library special, instead of Friday afternoon, we will be going to the library Friday morning. We will begin taking books out this week. The children will be able to select the book that they would like to borrow until the following week. The book needs to be returned before another one can be taken out.

We are continuing the theme entitled, “Our Community”. The third unit is called, Things That Move. We will be discussing how workers in the community help everyone. Children will learn about the role of the community in their lives and the importance of good citizenship. The vocabulary for this unit includes: driver, passenger, safety, traffic, transportation, travel and vehicle. Seasonally, we will be learning about the Native Americans and Thanksgiving.

We will be learning about the letter Kk and the number eleven. Mathematically, we will introduce: Creates/Extending Patterns and we will review comparing distances. We will be reading the following books: I’m Your Bus, Carlo Likes Counting and Dig Dig Digging.

For Jesus time, we are going to discuss God teaching Samuel how to pray. We will be going to chapel on Wednesday of this week.

Homework packets will be coming home on Monday and are due back on Friday. Please send in any communications, money, etc. INSIDE your child’s folder inside of placing it loosely in their backpacks.

Pizza envelopes will be sent home on Monday this week and are due back Wednesday/Thursday morning the latest.

Please dress your child with clothing appropriate for the weather, we will be going out twice a day unless it is raining or the temperature drops below 40 degrees. Also for safety reasons, please have your child wear sneakers.

Please remove any papers that come home in your child’s folder daily, some are time sensitive.
