Our classroom is decorated and we are in full swing for Christmas.  The students know that we will be finishing up a few important units over the next few weeks.  It’s important for them to stay focused on homework and studying during this time of the year.  There will be plenty of opportunities for fun and celebrations along the way!

Week:  December 7-11

Spelling: somebody, fireplace, nearby, toothbrush, homesick, make-believe, anything, all right, goodbye, forehead, classmate, flashlight, haircut, twenty-two, driveway, alarm clock, baby-sit, airport, forever, mailbox Challenge Words:  field trip, absent-minded, life jacket, skyscrapers, nevertheless

Grammar: Review pronouns, test Thursday

Reading: Main story “Hurricanes, Earth’s Mightiest Storms”; informational text “Recovering From Katrina”

Writing: Retell the nativity story

Math: Finish long division and begin reviewing chapter 4

Science: Test on Chapter 7

Social Studies:  Chapter 4, Lesson 2 Colonial Government in New York

Religion: daily devotions, weekly Dear God letters

TESTS THIS WEEK:

  • Tuesday – Reading “Jose Born to Dance”; Science Ch. 7
  • Thursday – Grammar
  • Friday – Spelling

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Math Extra Help WEDNESDAY this week at 7:45
  • The Christmas Concert is Tuesday, 12/8 at 7 pm
  • The Secret Santa gifts are due on Thursday, 12/10.  Please be sure the are labeled with ONLY the RECEIVER’S name.
  • Friday is the Holiday Dress Down Day.
  • Friday is the TLS Book Fair event at Barnes & Noble in Carle Place.  I will be reading a Christmas story in the children’s section of the book store at 6:30 pm.  Hope to see everyone there!
