Welcome to the Kindergarten blog. Each week you can read my post which will include the curriculum for the week and other important reminders. Enjoy!

READING- The students will listen to a rhyme, and identify rhyming words, review alphabetical order, recognize and name capital and lower case A-a to E-e, recognize their names and names of classmates, distinguish letters and numbers, handle books properly, recognize environmental print and blend syllables. Any additional practice and reinforcement you can provide at home will enhance your child’s learning experience.

MATH- Our first critical area will involve numbers and operations. In Chapter 1 the student will learn to represent, count, write numbers 0 to 5 and read number words one to five. Before each chapter you will receive a School-Home Letter, with activities you can do at home to reinforce your child’s Math vocabulary and learning experience. This week we’ll read the math story Fall Festival, complete a Math storybook, and model, count and write numbers 1 and 2.

RELIGION- “God created the heavens and the Earth” is the Bible story for this week.

SOCIAL STUDIES- Our focus is on our “feelings” and positive responses to various feelings. We are also learning about school rules. A copy of our classroom rules will be sent home this week. Please review them several times with your child, then you and your child should sign the agreement form and return it to school by the due date.

SCIENCE- Our discussions will center on naming the four seasons, and how nature changes from summer to fall.

HANDWRITING- We will be practicing writng our first names.

REMINDERS:

Return school rules agreement form.

Send any missing school supplies to school as soon as possible

Don’t forget to send a photo of your child not larger than 4×6.
