READING – Our essential question is: “What can we see in the sky?” To help us answer the question we will read, How Many Stars in the Sky?, What a Beautiful Sky!, and What Will the Weather be LIke? The students will review the high frequency words, “come, me, with, my, you, what, are”, and “now.” In addition we’ll review blending and decoding using “b,” “n,” “f,” and short and long “a.” We’ll also practice reading fluency and reading with expression, story sequence, and author’s purpose as we read “Pam Cat” and “Come with Me” in our Readers. This week is a review week for Unit 3, and we will have a Unit test next Thursday, February 16th.

MATH – The concept of subtraction or “take away” continues to be our focus. We have been writing subtraction sentences and learning how it differs from addition.

RELIGION – The class is practicing with the First Grade to lead our worship service, this Wednesday, on ” foregiveness.” We are also discussing the story , “Jesus stills the storm.”

SCIENCE – Our focus is on animal homes and how animals adapt to their environment.

JOURNAL – We will write and draw pictures to reinforce our Science topic.

SOCIAL STUDIES – Our discussions will center around, “Kids are the same and different.”

Reading test next Thursday, February 16th. More information will be sent home towards the end of the week.
