READING – We are reviewing material learned in Unit 2 and will have a unit test on Monday, 12/19. Review the following with your child:
- Pages 39 – 66 in the Reader’s Notebook
- High frequency words, “we,” “a,” “see.” and “to”
- Letter/sounds: m/m, s/s, t/t, hard c/k, p/p, and short a/a.
- Use the afore-mentioned sounds to blend to read words, i.e. cap, c-a-p, mat, m-a-t, pat, p-a-t, cat, c-a-t, map, m-a-p, sat, s-a-t.
- Read story passages to your child and ask questions to test his/her comprehension.
MATH – We have started chapter 5 – Addition. This week our focus is on counting sets and combining them to discover “How many all together?”
RELIGION – Advent and preparation for Christ’s birth is still our focus.
SCIENCE – We have a Science chapter 2 test Tuesday, 12/13. Review pages were sent home last week.
SOCIAL STUDIES – We will continue to discuss needs and wants and Christmas family traditions.
REMINDERS:
Christmas Pageant Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M. Students should meet in their classrooms starting at 6:40.
A Christmas information sheet was sent home on Monday, 12/12 concerning 5th Grade Buddy gifts, sharing Christmas cards, and a gift from Santa. Please note due dates.
Next Tuesday, 12/20 is our Christmas luncheon. At least one adult should accompany his/her Kindergarten student for this event.
