READING- We are beginning Unit 3 with a focus on Nature. Lesson 11 asks the question, “How does weather change in different months and seasons?” To help us answer that question we will read the stories, Every Season, Jump into January, and Holidays All Year Long. Our new high frequency words are “come” and “me.” We will review the short “a” sound, listen for the sound that we hear at the end of a word, blend sounds to read words, and pause for punctuation as we practice reading fluency. Our grammar content will be to identify the subject of a sentence, and we will also learn the use of figurative language.

MATH- This week and next week we will be learning number pairs for 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. We will complete our chapter on addition and have a test next Thursday January 29.

RELIGION- Our Bible story is Jesus in the temple, a continuation from last week.

SCIENCE- Weather and seasons will be discussed in relation to our reading topic.

WEEKLY READER- The real animals from the story  The Mitten will be discussed after reading the story.

HANDWRITING- Review printing capital and lower case A-a is our task.

JOURNAL- Adding back round and coloring pictures of their homes from last week will be completed.
