READING – Our essential question this week is “How do our senses help us learn about the world?” We will read the following to help us answer the question, Listen, Listen, My Five Senses, and Poems About Senses. We will use our senses in a “hands -on” experiment to investigate how some leaves change color. In addition the students will learn the high frequency word, “see,” the short vowel sound “a,” as in apple, acrobat, etc., begin to blend sounds to form words, use sensory words when describing objects, and identify context clues to assist in comprehension of stories. In our readers we will read the stories “Aa” and “I See.”

MATH – Our Chapter 3 Math test is Tuesday, 11/8. Information was sent home to help your child review. Our next chapter will be to represent and compare numbers to 10.

RELIGION – Our next Bible story tells of how Jacob lies to his father Isaac and then runs away. Our theme is still that God is always with us and how He keeps His promises.

SCIENCE –  There is a Science test on Wednesday 11/9 on Chapter 1. Review sheets wrer sent home last Thursday.

The class will experiment with how leaves change colors, and complete a sheet to record what we observed.

SOCIAL STUDIES – We’ll read the story, Duck for President, and review the voting process. The school will be voting on Tuesday 11/8, Election Day. Lower grades will vote on their favorite snack. We’ll also discuss Veteran’s Day.
