READING- Our chapter this week has its focus on caring for pets. We will read several stories about this topic, they are, I Have A Pet, Please, Puppy, Please, Different Kinds of Dogs, Baby Bear’s Family, and The Party. We are also reviewing recognition of capital and lower case letters, determining if words have the same or different beginning sounds, practicing reading rate, learning about words that are synonyms, (words that have the same or almost the same meaning), recognizing nouns as words that name animals, things, and places, and reading our new high frequency word “the.”
MATH- We are completing Chapter 2. On Thursday review work will be sent home so you can help your child study. Our test will be on Monday, November 2nd.
RELIGION- Our Bible stories this week are about Abraham and Isaac and God’s promises to them.
SOCIAL STUDIES- Our class is learning about fun at school, and relative location, i.e. far, above, near, next to, etc.
SCIENCE- The students made predictions on whether certain given objects would sink or float. Then we actually placed the objects in a tank of water to test them. Our last objects were first a small and then a medium sized pumpkin. Ask your child about the results.
JOURNAL- We will write the word “the” in a sentence, then draw a picture to demonstrate our picture.
REMINDERS
On Wednesday, 10/27 it is DRESS YOUR BEST day and on Friday, 10/30 is WEAR YOUR FAVOITE ATHLETIC TEAM’S NAME day.
