READING- Our focus is on the short “a” sound at the beginning and middle of a given word i.e. “apple”/”cat” respectively, story sequence, using the terms first, next, last, recognition of the high frequency word “that”, reviewing previously learned words,  blending learned sounds to form the word N-a-n and other words in the “an” family, and we’ll read the mini book, “That Nan!”

MATH- We will, within circular and scattered dot configurations of numbers 3, 4, and 5 find the “hidden partners,” model the decomposition of 3,( 1+2, 2+1,) with materials, drawings, and expressions, and understand the meaning of zero and write the numeral on lines.

RELIGION- Noah’s Ark will be continued this week.

SCIENCE- We will discuss and draw the growth of a pumpkin.

SOCIAL STUDIES- Columbus is still our focus this week.

HANDWRITING- We are learning to write capital and lower case “A-a” on the lines.

JOURNAL- The students will dictate a sentence about our trip to the pumpkin farm and then draw a picture to accompany their sentence.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This Friday, October 18th is a non uniform day. Wear YELLOW!!

The class representatives will meet next week to schedule activities for the school year. The schedule will be sent home soon.
